Interstate 91 Southbound was closed in the area of Exit 17 in Meriden Friday morning after a tractor-trailer
jackknifed in snow and icy conditions.
Roads and sidewalks are slippery after a winter storm dropped 2 to 8 inches of a wintery mix across º£½Ç»»ÆÞ. The largest accumulation fell in northern º£½Ç»»ÆÞ with mostly freezing rain and sleet at the shoreline.
A lingering light wintry mix is possible Friday afternoon.
The º£½Ç»»ÆÞ Department of Transportation reported it had more than 800 trucks clearing state roads Friday morning.
A winter storm warning is in effect for northern º£½Ç»»ÆÞ with a winter weather advisory in effect for southern º£½Ç»»ÆÞ.
The University of º£½Ç»»ÆÞ and many school districts canceled school for Friday.
Conditions will improve later Friday afternoon into evening, but there's still a chance for slippery spots.
The weekend looks dry and chilly with highs in the low 30s Saturday and near 40 on Sunday.
