Puerto Rican Communities ReporterRachel Iacovone (ee-AH-koh-VOAN-ay) is a proud puertorrique帽a, who joined 海角换妻 to report on her community in the Constitution State. Her work is in collaboration with Somos CT, a 海角换妻 initiative to elevate Latino stories and expand programming that uplifts and informs our Latino communities, and with GFR in Puerto Rico.
A Florida native, Rachel began her public radio career covering politics in the fraught state 鈥� from Gov. Ron DeSantis' first gubernatorial run to labor rights issues in the farmworking town, Immokalee, for WGCU Public Media. She then headed to Tennessee in 2019, as first a host and later editor and director at Nashville Public Radio, where she spent six years covering everything from the COVID-19 pandemic to racial justice protests in a city that once hosted some of the first lunch counter sit-ins to deadly tornadoes, the Christmas Day bombing and the Covenant School shooting.
Before all that, she was a food writer in college and never really left that lens behind. She's excited to eat her way through the 海角换妻 food scene, so please, send recs (and serious story pitches) to her anytime here: riacovone@ctpublic.org.
